Children…, It’s easy to connect with a child…

  • Communicate to him, “you are important!  Your thoughts, your feelings matter to me.”
  • Communicate to her, “I’ve got time for you.”
  • Be frequently ‘available.

Do these things, children will adore you!

IRONICALLY

This actually doesn’t change when we grow up.  We still want people to:

  • Communicate, “you are important!  Your thoughts, your feelings matter to me.”
  • Communicate, “I’ve got time for you.”
  • Be ‘available’.

The difference is that children often feels that they can be like this…

Where as adults feel like their world is like this…

TRANQUILITY

… is a state a mind, and not a reaction environmental pressures.

You CANNOT enjoy life, if you don’t have tranquility in your soul!

BUT to have tranquility – you must go back to the CORE needs.

Connecting with other people is ESSENTIAL for happiness…

but in this modern world, we are too often distracted by the Urgent, while ignoring the less demanding Necessary.

Some things CANNOT be rushed.  Developing deep friendships / relationships is one essential area of our lives that requires intentially “slowing down” so that we can be PRESENT with others.

That child, inside all of us has not gone away… he is still there and he still needs other to

  • Communicate, “you are important!  Your thoughts, your feelings matter to me.”
  • Communicate, “I’ve got time for you.”
  • Be ‘available’.

Yet so often as adults, we are frequently running through our lives.  We, for some reason think that others will “catch up with us and communicate at our pace.”  We only half listen as others communitcate they messages to us.  And we are infrequently ‘available’ because we are running from one ‘urgent’ task to another…

Yes, I am an adult.  Yes, I have things that I hope to accomplish in my life…

BUT…

What good is it to “gain the world, and lose my soul!?!?”

The BEAUTY in life is not in the grandiose, but in enjoying the small things.

Just because we are adults, doesn’t mean that we can release the child-like spirit of “play” within ourselves.
